A product that creates your will or living trust with real lawyers

Project

Everwill is a startup based in Los Angeles, CA and was founded in early 2017. The product of the company is aiming to provide an alternative for the traditional expensive legal services for wills which usually costs around $550 - $750. What’s more, real lawyers within the industry is involved to make the customers more ensured about their will validity. I was the lead UX designer for their website as I participated in the whole process of initial concept stage up to the first couple beta tests.

Initial User Testing

We did a 15 people user study about the usability for the first beta. We synthesized the information and listed out points to consider for the next iteration:

- Straightforward navigation on the home screen and answering basic question part

- Continuation of guidance for the customer to put in information and let them know what happens next, e.g. will there be real lawyer to help with the document?

- More illustrations on the interstitial page, e.g. percent of completion, rather than let the wait

- Larger text size and unified font

Original Website

Information Architecture

Instead of a regular Answer questions -->  Choose packages --> Checkout model, we wanted to test upon a different iteration such that the payment collection is on the second phase after the customer answers the basic questions. In this way, it helps to ask them to create account and give a break of the many questions required to complete the will.
